The project work has enabled Enterprise to reduce their Qwest monthly phone bill by over $6,000 and enhance their main Colorado sites with T1 caller ID and a new AVST CallXpress voice mail system. Hi Country also upgraded Enterprise’s Avaya, Toshiba, and NEC phone systems.
The project work commenced in July of 2004 when Hi Country performed and thorough audit of Enterprise’s qwest phone services and bills. “As a result of this audit request we were able to identify an initial monthly savings of approximately $6,500 monthly for Enterprise; in addition to enabling them to upgrade their Qwest voice T1 services”, states Jim Whitfield, Director of Network Operations for Hi Country. Enterprise wanted to apply the change to a couple of their sites first to ensure the upgrade would work and the savings would be realized. “We agreed with their approach; we are a company that plans to be around a while so we want our customers to implement projects at their pace”, states Whitfield.
The project picked up speed in 2005 when Enterprise brought in Group Operations Manager, David Jusczak to run and improve the Group’s telecommunications. “I had to quickly bring David up-to-speed on the project and prove to him that Hi Country could manage the project and produce the savings; David was quick to realize the potential to significantly improve the regions operations spend.” “We gave Jim and Hi Country a chance to improve our Qwest services while decreasing our Qwest spend, upgrade five PBX’s, move the telecommunications for our administrative headquarters, provide the cabling for our new office expansion, and add a new AVST CallXpress voice mail system in the span of 8 weeks. And Hi Country delivered the results exactly as they proposed.” states David Jusczak.
Phase II of the project will expand to review more of the Group’s telecommunications services and should yield another $6,500 in monthly savings by implementing Qwest’s Choice Business Volume Line services. The AVST CallXpress could be expanded to server a larger part of the region. “I’m always amazed by those companies that do not think the Qwest savings or service improvement is real. I can’t begin to tell you the number of companies and managers that ignore the chance to save thousands monthly because of their indifference or corporate policies. David Jusczak and Enterprise Rent-a-Car are not one of them, their business culture empowers them to seek out all possible business improvements so they can pass that savings onto their customers”, states Whitfield.
